State dept. fire was quickly extinguished and the main building has been reopened for normal weekend operations.
A fire broke out during routine maintenance at the U.S. State Department on Saturday, injuring four maintenance workers, Reuters reports.

The fire started shortly after 11 a.m., as construction crews were working on the premises, said Lon Walls, a spokesman for Washington’s fire department.

District of Columbia Battalion Chief Edward Mills, who was one of the first responders to the scene, told Reuters TV the cause of the fire remained under investigation but did not immediately appear suspicious.

State department personnel were temporarily relocated but the main building was quickly reopened, according to The Washington Post.
