Apple's new role as automotive supplier will debut the first quarter of 2013, integrating its Siri Eyes Free with two Chevrolet models.

The Chevy Spark and Sonic will be the first to feature Eyes Free, which Apple announced in June. The two models were targeted because its driver demographic has the highest penetration of smartphones.

A demo at the L.A. Auto Show previewed the device's ability to help drivers read and reply to texts, check weather conditions and stock prices and much more--all completely hands-free.

Cars act as a host for Siri to pass through, allowing drivers to directly address the software. Unlike Siri's smartphone capabilities, Eyes Free will not answer questions that require displaying a website in order to limit driver distraction.

Nine car companies are currently working with Apple to bring Siri Eyes Free to their vehicle lineup.
