Mitt Romney might have a chance to upset Barack Obama's lead going into Election Night if the white vote turns out in big numbers.

Democrats fear the white vote.  Obama's main constituency is made of blacks, Hispanics, single females and well-educated urban whites, the Daily Beast said.  But Romney leads the white vote by about 14 percent in this campaign.

The Daily Beast quoted one of Obama's staffers saying that they feared "a huge white turnout.  Kind of like what Bush hit us (John Kerry) with in '04."

The Beast also reports that the white vote has significantly declined in recent years.
