Former CIA Director David Petraeus testified on Friday that that while Al Qaeda involvement was suspected immediately following the Sept. 11 Libya attack by his agency, the line was taken out in the final version of the brief which went out to administration officials, according to House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), who spoke to reporters after the closed hearing this morning.

"No one knows yet exactly who came up with the final version of the talking points," King said, as reported by Fox News.

King also said that during his testimony Petraeus said that the CIA gave the White House and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice information on the Benghazi attack that differed from Rice’s public comments on the incident, the Washington Post reported.

The CIA maintained that the attack stemmed from a protest, even when the agency received new information on Sept. 15 that cast doubt on the protest, the Wall Street Journal reported.

After vetting the intelligence, the agency made the decision to maintain the assessment that there had been a protest until Sept. 20 when intelligence officials told their counterparts at the White House that their findings had changed. It then took two more days for that change to go to the briefings provided to President Barack Obama, the Wall Street Journal added.

Petraeus testified Friday “that he thought all along he made it clear that there was significant terrorist involvement -- and that is not my recollection of what he told us on Sept. 14,” King also said, as reported  by NBC News.
