Hundreds of thousands of residents in Manhattan now have power again. They have been without power and electricity for five days since Hurricane Sandy hit New York.

People cheered after the power was restored.

Not only was power restored, but parks were also reopened, and gas is now expected to flow into gas stations without it. Eighty percent of the subway service was also restored.

Areas in Queens and Staten Island are still struggling to rebuild.
