Just when Michelle Williams and Jason Segel are starting to get serious with each other, the couple is left temporarily homeless as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The couple's apartment building in Brooklyn, N.Y., is reportedly underwater after the destructive Sandy struck the East Coast, leaving countless residents in the tri-state area and beyond without power or homes.

Williams and Segel are currently residing in the Brooklyn brownstone that Williams and her late ex Heath Ledger purchased together before his death in January 2008. Her choice to live with Segel was supposed to signal a new beginning for Williams, but Sandy has left her with no choice but to temporarily reside in her old home.

Only last week, People magazine reported that the pair, who have been dating since February, were sharing an expansive, waterfront loft situated in a converted warehouse in Brooklyn. Williams’ 7-year-old daughter Matilda resides there as well.

"Michelle, Jason and Matilda seem very happy here, the building is beautiful,” the source told Daily Mail. "They've been here a few months now and they look right at home."

According to People, Segel, 32, is back and forth between New York City and Los Angeles for “How I Met Your Mother”, but now that him and Williams are playing house, maybe he can be the father figure for little Matilda.

The star couple were said to have been introduced by Williams’ “Dawson’s Creek” costar and best friend Busy Phillips, who was also on “Freaks and Geeks” with Segel.
