Los Angeles public employees will oversee porn sets for proper condom use under new law, according to the LA Times.

Measure B requires porn actors to wear condoms while shooting adult films and producers must purchase health permits from the county.

Additionally, inspectors sent by the county will perform random assessments on porn sets to assure that rules are followed. X-rated films could also be subject to random screening by county employees, reported the Daily News.

Los Angeles Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky said it would be difficult to apply these rules when most pornographic films are shot at private residences.

Adult film producer Steven Hirsch, founder of Vivid Entertainment Group, said the industry would fight the law.

Hirsch told the LA Times:

“The truth of the matter is I’m not sure there will be a lot to enforce if no one is producing in the county of Los Angeles,” he said, adding that supervisors would “spend a lot of time and a lot of money on how to figure out how to put something in place that ultimately won’t work.”

The estimated budget to enforce the law is projected at nearly $300,000 with fees covered by production companies.
