However, there is a chance the cease-fire will not last. Some have said that the conflict will not alter Prime Minister Netanyahu's political position going into the elections in January.

In October, Netanyahu had called for early elections to ensure "a responsible security and economic policy," given what he believes are the external threats and economic struggles facing Israel.
