Two Israeli airstrikes killed three Palestinian journalists in their cars Tuesday, a Gaza health official and the head of the Hamas-run Al Aqsa TV told the Associated Press. Israel said they targeted the men because they had ties to militants.

Two cameramen for Al Aqsa TV and an educational programming director for the Al Quds channel were killed, according to Reuters.

Gaza press corps and Hamas said Israel is trying to suppress coverage of Israeli attacks, Reuters reported.

An Israeli airstrike hit a building housing the French news agency Agence France Presse last Tuesday. No one was injured, the AP reported.

"The Israeli aggressors want to cut the picture and silence the voice of the brave people of Gaza,” Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said at a news conference. “Journalism in Gaza plays a major, effective role in exposing the enemy's crimes to the world.”
