Israel Defense Forces fired a warning shot at the Syrian military Sunday after a shell from Syria landed in the Golan Heights.

This is the second time a shell has landed there, according to NY Daily News.

No injuries or damages have been reported as the result of either the warning shot or the shell.

"A short while ago, a mortar shell targeted an IDF (Israel Defense Forces) post in the Golan Heights," said army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich to the Christian Science Monitor. "We answered with a warning shot toward Syrian areas. We understand this was a mistake and was not meant to target Israel and then that is why we fired a warning shot in retaliation."

Israel has not fired a shot on Syria since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

This also marks the first time Israel has been drawn into the Syrian civil war, according to the Huffington Post.
