International Efforts Fail To Bring Ceasefire To Gaza Strip
Ultimately this defense led to the assassination of Hamas' military commander and deterioration of Hamas military training facilities. Later Thursday, additional Hamas soldiers were wounded by a rocket strike. So far 19 deaths and 200 injuries of Palestinians by Israeli attacks are reported.
On Thursday, Israel military commanders approved dozens of new targets in Gaza. As of Friday, Israel mobilized more than ten thousand troops and initiated their attacks on the Gaza Strip. Palestinian militants are preparing missile attacks on Israel and more attacks are expected to occur near apartment complex in southern Israeli town.
Various international efforts have been put into action as the attacks are expanding.
The Arab League will meet Saturday to discuss the attacks.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon also canceled his trip to Mozambique next week to visit Egypt and Israel. Obama administration officials say they made an effort to calm the situation down by using ally Arab countries to influence Hamas.
The United States is also trying to calm the situation down by persuading Mohammed Morsi, who signed the Israeli-Egyptian peace deal. Morsi actively responded to this conflict by sending Egypt's prime minster to Gaza for delegation on Friday.
Israel says it will not stop mobilizing troops unless rocket fires cease. There are concerns that these aerial attacks would lead to ground assaults.
