Hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered in Buenos Aires to protest against government corruption.

Rallying in the capital's central plaza, Argentinians called for an end to crime in the country, both within institutions and on the streets, where many have been killed.

The protests come after proposed reforms suggested for the nation's constitution. If passed, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner would be allowed to run for a third term as head of state in 2015. The activists are also lashing out against high inflation, slow economic growth

Protesters, said to be as many as one million by some activists, came out to the streets in a “cacerolazo” style rally, banging pots and pans. The style of protest is popular in Argentina and other Latin American countries, and was picked up in Canada's ongoing protests.

There were protests earlier this year in September that drew as many as half a million activists.
