Hector 'Macho' Camacho, a Puerto Rican boxer known for skill and flamboyance in the ring was declared dead on Saturday, four days after being shot in the face USA Today reports. He was 50.

“He was his own drummer. It's going to be hard to say how he'll be remembered as a boxer,” Promoter Bob Arum said. "He won't be remembered as one of the great fighters of his time like (Marvin) Hagler, (Thomas) Hearns, Leonard and later (Felix) Trinidad and De La Hoya. But if people study the sport in that era they will see that he did a lot to popularize boxing, especially on television where he was a staple in the afternoon on CBS. You always felt that the talent was there, but that he squandered a lot of it.”
