French model and actor Gaspard Ulliel is set to play fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in an upcoming biopic.

Producer Eric Altmayer tells WWD that the film, titled “Saint Laurent,” is due to start shooting next spring and will be directed by Bertrand Bonello.

To date there have been several films about the French designer. David Teboul’s “Yves Saint Laurent: His Life and Times” was released in 2002, followed by Pierre Thoretton’s “L’Amour Fou” in 2010.

Ulliel is most recognizable as the face of Chanel Blue, a men’s fragrance (the advertisement for which is seen below). He also recently appeared alongside Kate Moss in a Longchamp campaign

Ulliel’s acting career includes roles in films like “Hannibal Rising” (in which he played the young Hannibal Lecter), “Paris, Je T’Aime,” and “The Princess of Montpensier.”
