CIA Director David Petraeus resigned Friday after his affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, graduate of West Point and Harvard’s graduate institution, was discovered. The FBI had stumbled upon knowledge of the affair during the course of an investigation into Paula Broadwell’s emails.

The investigation did not begin with Petraeus – the GBI received a report of “harassing” emails sent from Broadwell’s account. When looking at her emails, the FBI found numerous exchanges between Broadwell and Petraeus that exposed the affair. A Congressional official said, “we were stunned” upon the discovery of the affair.

Paula Broadwell is the author of “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus,” and had met the general as a post-graduate at Harvard when he visited the university as a speaker.
