Raymond Primrose, 57, is a security officer for Long Beach, Harbor Division. He came out to the polls Tuesday in Central Los Angeles at the Olympic Presbyterian Church, and spoke to Neon Tommy about why he is strongly against former Gov. Mitt Romney and the GOP.

NT: What made you come out to vote today?

RP: Every time it’s time to vote, I go out. I’ve been voting for 30 years now. If I was born in Lincoln’s time, I would have voted for him. It’s important. Your opinions don’t matter if you don’t vote. Why complain about what somebody’s doing if you don’t get out here and step up to the plate and vote?

Also, it’d be kind of hard for me to stay home anyway, because of the way the campaign is being run, all of the block the vote stuff. There’s been a lot of corruption, a lot of mudslinging, which is normal in politics, but the underhandedness, I don’t like. Like, voter fraud, trying to eliminate the early voting, all the nonsense that’s going on in the process of trying to win. It’s just stupid.

NT: What did you see during the campaigns this time around?

RP: Too many lies. You can say just a few things and figure out who I’m talking about – all the flip-flopping, one minute he’s for this, one minute he’s for that. You don’t know which way he’s going. Mostly it’s just the corruption that’s been going on. What’s so funny about all the underhanded corruption is that the truth will always win in the end anyway. And the votes will show it.

NT: Who did you vote for in the presidential election?

RP: I voted for [President] Obama. I actually believe that some of the stuff that he tried to push through was held back by the Republican Senate. They had an agenda from day one when he got into office to slow things down and make it hard for him to proceed. You have to be the biggest idiot in the world to not know that they tried to hold back some of the things he tried to do. They knew this day was gonna come again and they wanted to be able to say that he didn’t accomplish anything.

NT: What do you think will happen if Romney wins?

RP: He’s not gonna win. Ohio’s leaning our way already. I will admit that [Hurricane] Sandy screwed up a little bit of the situation, because there’s no power in certain areas and I think Republicans might use that to their advantage. But Romney needs a lot to win this and Obama’s already got some areas covered. I’m ready for the party.

Another reason Romney’s not gonna win is because a lot of people believe the Mormon faith is a cult. Mormonism is a faith that was brought into design by man himself, not by God. He isn’t gonna be a president. God puts honorable people in the White House; he doesn’t put cults. I’m a Christian.

The GOP is racist, since George Wallis days. It’s just sad. They’re like the [Ku Klux] Klan, they hide their faces – they let you hear their voices but you can’t see their faces until they pull the sheets off.

Like Romney with the 47 percent. People don’t understand that 47 percent stands for one thing. You’ve got this man in a condition where he doesn’t think he’s being taped. He’s telling you exactly how he feels: I don’t care about the little people. If you don’t make over $200,000, you’re not in his world. That’s what the GOP is all about. That’s why they’re racist. If they had their way, they’d have slavery still.
