With all the hubbub surrounding “Star Wars: Episode VII,” it’s safe to say that the stakes are high for all involved to pull off a good show. The starting point at least seems to be solid: Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3,” “Little Miss Sunshine”) is reportedly Disney’s choice to write the film. (Vulture)

A new trailer for the hotly anticipated “Les Miserables” film musical is out, and it features singing and appearances from cast members who aren’t Anne Hathaway. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Apparently Warner Bros. has been trying to make a Tarzan movie for a while, and the film finally has a working director: David Yates, of Harry Potter film franchise fame. (The A.V. Club)

Miss “Sex and the City”? Then get out your calendars (or calendar apps) and save the date for a look at Carrie Bradshaw’s start: “The Carrie Diaries” is set to debut on The CW on January 14. (EW)

Filed under: the Internet can make things happen. Mark Wahlberg will be starring in the 4th Transformers film after Michael Bay took notice of Internet speculations about the part and realized that casting Wahlberg would actually be a kind of badass idea. (Us Weekly)
