Cast Of "Jersey Shore" Fights Sandy's Destruction
The nonprofit Architecture for Humanity and the cast of the reality series are congregating for the MTV-sponsored "Restore the Shore." The benefit is set to air live in MTV's Times Square Studio on Thursday, November 15.
According to MTV News, funds raised during the televised benefit will be used to restore the famous Seaside Boardwalk. Additional donations will be allocated to local businesses and residents.
Architecture for Humanity provides design and construction aid after natural disasters by giving grants to local contractors. The nonprofit organization was also involved in restoration efforts post-Hurricane Katrina. As listed on their website, they explain that, “Through a global network of building professionals, Architecture for Humanity brings design, construction and development services to communities in need.”
As Seaside Heights is among the areas most affected by the super storm, Vinny Guadagnino of the “Jersey Shore” explained the desperate need for aid in the Garden State.
"New Jersey, and especially Seaside, is just destroyed," Guadagnino told MTV News. "I've never had anything like this happen to me. I know every business owner on the boardwalk personally, you know, and, like, they're good people, they all are hard-working people."
