Two people were arrested Wednesday after a protest against President Barack Obama erupted at the University of Mississippi.

Nearly 400 students at Ole Miss  gathered and shouted racial slurs after news of Obama's re-election, said Salon. Police broke up the scene around 12:30 a.m.

The exact account of events at the rally are not quite clear. Some reports say rocks were thrown, but there is an image on Twitter of a burning "Obama Biden" sign.

The AP reported:
The university said in a statement Wednesday that the gathering at the student union began late Tuesday night with about 30 to 40 students, but grew within 20 minutes as word spread. Some students chanted political slogans while others used derogatory racial statements and profanity, the statement said.

The incident comes follows the 50th anniversary of violent rioting when Ole Miss accepted their first black student, James Meredith, due to integration.
