Sensitive Documents Missing At U.S. Embassy In Libya

Although the gates to the embassy closed only a few days after the attack, it was open long enough for looters and others, who roamed the compound to pick up the documents that were littered across the floor.
Though the documents were not classified, they ranged from emergency evacuation protocols, details of weapons collection efforts, and the personal records of Libyans who were contracted to secure the compound.
Libyan officials have only visited the compound once and no government-provided security currently guard the compound. The only two private guards on duty were hired by the Libyan owner of the compound.
