The Gallup Poll Thursday showed that Mitt Romney leads Barack Obama by seven points in the percentage of likely voters, CBS News said.

Romney apparently holds 52 percent of the vote to Obama's 45, which gives the Republican candidate his largest projected lead of the campaign.

According to CBS, the same poll showed Romney leading by two points just four days ago (and two points is listed as the margin of error).

The poll comes from weekly interviews with 2,700 people.

CBS said that all of those involved in this latest poll were interviewed after the first presidential debate, where Obama performed poorly, but only some were interviewed after the second debate, where Obama seemed to prevail.

A separate Gallup poll also shows that 50 percent of Americans (not necessarily voters) currently approve of Obama's performance in office.
