Moderators continue to be the focal point coming out of presidential debates, as CNN's Candy Crowley has come under fire for siding with President Barack Obama during an exchange with Mitt Romney over Libya, Reuters reported.

Romney said it took Obama 14 days to call an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi an act of "terror," after which Obama told Romney "Get the transcript."

Crowley accepted Obama's interpretation, saying "He did call it an act of terror," drawing the ire of Romney supporters.

"Candy was wrong, and Candy had no business doing that, and Candy didn't even keep the (candidates' speaking) time right," said former New Hampshire governor John Sununu, one of Romney's bigger supporters.

Crowley appeared to be making an effort not to allow Obama and Romney to dominate the flow of the debate, unlike PBS' Jim Lehrer. But not all Romney backers though the GOP should be piling criticism on the moderator.

"I don't complain about the refs," said campaign senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom. "I think Candy was dandy."

Rep. Paul Ryan even accused Crowley of backtracking on the Libya issue, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Crowley explained to Soledad O’Brien that her original goal was not to fact-check Romney's claims, but to steer the candidates away from their semantic squabbling and toward more substantive issues.

“We got hung up on this ‘yes he said,’ ‘no I didn’t,’ ‘I said terror,’ ‘you didn’t say terror.’ And there was this point where they both kind of looked at me.... And what I wanted to do was move this along,” she said.

In an attempt to soften backlash from her right-wing critics, Crowley said "There is no question that the administration is quite vulnerable on this topic."

Meanwhile, Obama picked up where he left off from Tuesday's debate as he continued to accuse Romney of seeking to cut funding for Planned Parenthood. He even poked fun at his GOP rival's "women in binders" remark from the town hall debate, according to USA Today.

"I've got to tell you we don't need to collect a bunch of binders to find, qualified, talented, talented driven young women," Obama said.

Romney, on the other hand, jabbed the president for failing to outline an agenda for his second term during the debate, NBC reported.

"Don’t you think that it’s time for him to finally put together a vision of what he’d do in the next four years if he were elected?" Romney said. "I mean, he’s gotta come up with that over this weekend because there’s only one debate left, on Monday."
