Preview: Fashion Fundraiser For Trans Youth

Angels of Change, an organization that raises money and awareness about the Center for TransYouth Health at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, will hold its fifth annual calendar release and fashion show tonight.
Young trans-identified models will strut their stuff on the runway, donning clothes by emerging designers, in a night that melds empowerment, activism and fun.
Comedian Ian Harvie and actress and activist Calpernia Addams will perform. Filmmaker Kalil Kohen and entertainer Kelly Mantel will serve as emcees for the night, which also includes the release of the 2013 transgender youth empowerment calendar.
“This event is unique because it provides the opportunity for young trans-identified youth to be who they are, in addition they contribute to the wellbeing of their own community,” says Bamby Salcedo, project coordinator. “By participating, they contribute to raise funds forneeded healthcare services for young trans individuals.”
The Childrens Hospital Los Angeles offers healthcare and support to transgender youth through its Division of Adolescent Medicine. Since 1996, a team of psychologists, physicians, nurses, case managers and social workers have sought to provide comprehensive healthcare for transgender youth and young people struggling with gender identity.
The 5th Annual Angels of Change Calendar Release and Runway Show begins Saturday at 6:00 pm at the Arena Nightclub on Santa Monica Blvd.
