A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Telemundo poll reports that Obama now has a 50-point lead among Latino voters. Only 20 percent of Latinos are behind Romney, which gives Obama a 73 percent approval rating with the Hispanic population.

Obama’s rating is up 11 points since August, with a commanding 53 percent view Romney unfavorably. Obama has received support from Hispanics during most of the election cycle, and data suggests that Romney’s efforts to steal Latino votes have been unsuccessful.

Latino voters make up about 13 percent of American voters, a substantial segment of the electorate. The new poll follows both candidates’ efforts to sway Latinos with Spanish-speaking radio ads, aggressively targeting Latino political leaders and debate over who could successfully depose Cuban patriarch brothers Fidel and Raul Castro.
