President Obama’s Campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $181 million in September, the most money raised in one month in his entire 2012 campaign.

More than 1.8 million people contributed to the money raised in September, including, according to President Obama, more than half a million people who had not donated in 2008 or 2012 previously.

Jim Messina, Obama’s campaign manager, announced the $181 million haul via email Saturday. He wrote: “The people and the stories behind these numbers are what make this grassroots organization so powerful.”
