President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are shoring up their defenses on first debate eve. Camped out in key battleground states in preparation for Wednesday’s showdown - Romney in Colorado and Obama in Nevada - the candidates have left the legwork up to their respective camps.

Obama is looking toward tomorrow night and defeating his opponent in a war of words, but his campaign was focused Tuesday on more of Romney’s flip flops and did not hesitate to condemn the Republican challenger’s newly announced position on the status of some undocumented immigrants.

In an effort to draw in the Hispanic vote that escapes him, Romney contradicted his earlier stance when he told the Denver Post, “The people who have received the special visa that the president has put in place, which is a two-year visa, should expect that the visa would continue to be valid. I’m not going to take something that they’ve purchased.”

The disingenuous GOP nominee continued, “Before those visas have expired we will have the full immigration reform plan that I’ve proposed.”

Gabriela Domenzain, director of Hispanic Press for Obama for America, countered with, “Romney’s latest immigration pivot raises more questions than it answers. He still has not said whether he would continue the administration’s policy that provides a temporary reprieve from deportation for young people who were brought here through no fault of their own.”

The list of flip flops from the GOP nominee keeps growing and it becomes harder to define his true position on any issue—his frequent switcheroos indicating he has no core beliefs.

Just last week The Boston Globe reported Romney lauded his healthcare reform while governor of Massachusetts, proclaiming “Don’t forget, I got everybody in my state insured”—but then he spoke at a rally denouncing Obamacare.

With just 35 days left before the election, Romney has plenty of time to change his many minds in an effort to shorten Obama’s lead in the polls. Tomorrow night’s presidential debate may highlight more Romney reversals and give voters their own bouts of vacillation.
