The 39th annual L.A. Korean Festival – located in Koreatown at the Seoul International Park on Irolo and San Marino – showcased the best of Korean culture.

Street vendors sold both traditional and fusion Korean food and a singing and dancing competition celebrated the best of K-pop music. The festival's crowd was diverse with more non-Korean attendees than in past years, suggesting that K-Town has become a more globalized neighborhood.

The festival goes on until Sunday, Oct. 6.

When you say "be American," what is an "American" to you? An American is a title in reference to the people of the United States. What is the United States? It is a country that pioneered the concept of equality for all; "all" encompassing gender, race, culture, etc. By rejecting the quintessential image of the cultural melting pot that is America, you are the one, ironically, not assimilating with the true Americans. If you want to get technical and want assimilation, we should all be Native Americans right about now.
