Koch Industries has sent a vaguely threatening letter to its employees warning them to vote for Mitt Romney or “suffer the consequences.” The letter was sent to the 45,000 employees of Georgia-Pacific and warned of “higher gasoline prices, runaway inflation, and other ills.”

It is a controversial move for the billionaire Koch brothers who have been accused of trying to control the political process through hundreds of millions of dollars in donations to right-wing causes and candidates.

The voter guide packet also included a list of candidates supported by Koch companies and pro-Romney op-eds by Charles and David Koch. The letter also noted that employees’ voting decisions are “yours and yours alone.”

Koch Industries has issues a response, saying that the packet "contained information employees commonly ask about" and Koch companies support candidates "based on their support for market-based policies and economic freedom."
