The Israeli navy seized an international, pro-Palestinian ship Saturday. The ship was carrying activists from Europe, Canada and Israel.

The ship, Estelle, was trying to break through Israel’s blockade of the Gaza strip, and was successfully diverted by the Israeli navy. Israeli officials reiterated that they needed to enforce the blockade to prevent the smuggling of weapons across it.

The Israelis boarded the ship before directing it to the Israeli port of Ashdod.
