INTERVIEW: Seventeen-Year-Old Founder Of KAITblu Debuts Her Line At LA Style Fashion Week

Kaitlyn currently attends high school at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Omaha and arrives Tuesday to set up for her big debut! Catch an exclusive interview with her below:
What was your inspiration for the collection?
Kaitlyn: My trip to Paris - the structure and architect of the city I incorporated in each garment. Gardens inspired the focused prints and pleating in the line.
How would you describe your own personal style?
Kaitlyn: Simple and easy. Lots of black and gold which is my entire closet!
What struggles did you face from this collection?
Kaitlyn: High school..balance with my time at school and fashion week.
How did you find out you were going to be showcasing at LA Fashion Week?
Kaitlyn: I was showcasing my collection in Omaha's Fashion Week and was at my show. It was the end of the show when I walked back [staged] and saw my assistant talking to Arianne [Sinclair] so I went over. Arianne told me she was trying to find new designers for LA Fashion Week and would like my collection there.
What was your reaction to all of this?
Kaitlyn: I thought my parents would never let me do this! ..So, I had no expectations.
Did you ever consider not going to school and beginning your fashion career from here?
Kaitlyn: No! My parents would never let me not go to school.
What are your plans for the future?
Kaitlyn: My goal is to study at Parson's in New York City and study there for college. Eventually, I want to go abroad to study at a Fashion house..then have a line and continue establishing [her line], Kaitblu.
Thursday, Neon Tommy will be covering the show and tweeting live! Make sure to check it out and see what the first-timer brings to the table!
