George Zimmerman Trial Date Set For June 10

The Orlando Sentinel reported Circuit Judge Debra Nelson set the date during a hearing in court Wednesday morning. Attorneys involved in the case said the trial would likely last around three weeks, though jury selection could potentially take longer than the trial itself.
Zimmerman admitted to shooting the 17-year-old during a confrontation in March, but said he had done so in self-defense.
Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara told reporters, "I don't know today when we'll be ready for trial," then tweeted he would seek a hearing in April or May regarding "self-defense immunity" — better known as "stand your ground."
No trial date has been set for Zimmerman's wife in her perjury case. Shellie Zimmerman, 25, will return to court Dec. 12 for the next hearing.
