On Oct. 13, Neon Tommy had the great fortune of visiting Laguna Beach, California for a “Laguna Style” Fashion Show. Hosted by Firebrand Media, the second annual fashion show took place at the Montage Resort.

Based in Laguna Beach, Firebrand publishes a variety of print media as well as digital media for local areas. They do work for Laguna Beach magazines, Newport Beach magazines, the Laguna Independent, Newport Independent, and OCinSite.com. Firebrand Media is also an exclusive magazine publisher for the Montage, St. Regis, and other preferred luxury hotel groups.

Dedicated to showcasing fashions and jewelry from some of South Coast Plaza’s leading luxury retailers, the event kicked off with a cocktail reception and a silent auction, where people were able to browse through an assortment of different luxury items and name the price they wanted to pay while silently competing. Money raised from the silent auction was donated toward benefiting SchoolPower and Laguna Playhouse.

The reception was stocked full of cocktails courtesy of Tequila Ocho and wines courtesy of The Wine Gallery. The cuisine and appetizers came straight from the chefs of the Montage and their miniature sliders were exquisite. The “Laguna Style” event also employed live models to stand on pedestals and wear the luxury designers’ clothes. Max Mara, Mikimoto, La Perla, and other brands carried in Saks Fifth Avenue were displayed on different models throughout the reception. However, the models were not only there to wear the clothes and provide a visual display, they were also there to answer any questions people had about the clothing. One of the models wore Mikimoto jewelry with a ring that was $26,000, a necklace that was $67,000, and a bracelet that costs $30,000.

After the cocktail reception, the doors opened and seating for the fashion show began. Chris Shulz, group publisher for Firebrand Media hosted the fashion show and said a few words before it began. The show featured a variety of different looks that ranged from cocktail attire, to lingerie, to fall wear for women.

After the fashion how, people were free to mingle for a bit longer or exit and return home. Neon Tommy was both thrilled and honored to be a part of this event. We met a mix of different people before, during, and after the show including Colleen Marshall, a woman sitting in the front row who owns her own salon in Laguna Beach as well as Julie Tran, who owns her own cosmetics company and provided samples of her products in the gift bags. Neon Tommy will definitely be back next year!
