Brad Pitt has been chosen as the inaugral frontman for Chanel's No. 5 fragrance. After decades of female-oriented advertisements, there is finally one with a leading man and who better to start the trend than Brad Pitt? The video (see below) shows the actor longing for the perfume while reflecting upon life. The contrast between the black and white surroundings and the bold-hued Chanel bottle goes to show that men view it as different from the ordinary, mundane world of common fragrances.

The 48-year old actor is quoted in the video saying, "It's not a journey. every journey ends and we go on... Wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. Chanel No.5. Inevitable."

The video was directed by Joe Wright of Pride & Prejudice and Anna Karenina fame and was shot in London earlier this year in May. Brad Pitt received $7 million to star in it and the honour of being the first male representative of Chanel No. 5

To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view. It is the first time we’ve had a man speaking about a women’s fragrance. We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level,” said Andrea d’Avack, president, Chanel Fragrance & Beauty, on Brad Pitt.

A new microsite, http://inside.chanel.com/en/#!/no5/history was also launched to commemorate the history of this iconic fragrance, which is still at the top of the charts.
