Protestors tore down the American flag at the U.S. embassay in Yemen's capital as demonstrations against a movie making fun of Muslims spread around the Middle East on Thursday.

Protests were also reported at U.S. stations in Egypt, Morocco, Sudan and Tunisia, the New York Times reported. The de facto U.S. station at the Swiss embassy in Tehran, Iran also saw a protest.

Yemen's new president, Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi, offered his sincere apologies to the U.S.
