The Week Ahead For Obama And Romney
The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll showed the president leading Romney 47 to 43 and Romney will have to poke a hole in Obama's post-convention bounce. Meanwhile, the president will have to defend his record following Friday's weak unemployment number. A jobless rate of 8.1 percent is a formidable hump and no incumbent has won reelection with such high unemployment since Franklin Roosevelt.
President Obama stumped in the delegate-rich swing state of Florida Sunday. On Tuesday, he and the First Lady will commemorate the victims of Sept. 11. with a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House followed by visits to the Pentagon Memorial and Walter Reed Medical Center. Obama also has sheduled appearances later in the week in Nevada and Colorado. He and the Michelle Obama will host the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams at the White House on Friday.
Vice President Joe Biden has events scheduled in Ohio and Wisconsin while Paul Ryan will hit up Oregon. Surrogate-in-chief, Bill Clinton will be campaigning for Obama in Florida next week.
