Voter enthusiasm this election cycle reached its highest level following the two party nominating conventions the past two weeks, according to a new Washington Post/ABC poll released Tuesday.

If trends from past presidential races hold true, voter interest in the election will only go up during the last two months.

The poll also is the latest to show the Democratic National Convention last week provided a boost to President Barack Obama in polling against Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. While voters still question Obama's ability to handle the nation's ongoing economic crisis, they still favor him by a slight edge.
