Trenton Mayor Tony Mack was arrested by federal agents early Monday in connection with an ongoing investigation into corruption and bribery charges, the Associated Press reported.

Mack was arrested along with his brother Ralphiel and a staunch supporter, Joseph Giorgianni, who is also a convicted sex offender.

Federal prosecutors alleged Mack agreed to give preferential treatment to a proposed parking garage project. The parking garage was, in fact, a ploy used by the FBI to gather evidence in a sting operation.

Prosecutors allege the defendants accepted $54,000 and expected to receive another $65,000.

Mack has been under investigation since September 2010.
