A NATO base in eastern Afghanistan was targeted in a dual suicide bomb attack Saturday. Eight civilians and four Afghan policemen were killed, but no one from NATO was killed.

The attack comprised two suicide bombers, one of whom was on foot. The other bomber was in a truck loaded with explosives. Fifty were injured as a result of the explosions.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. President Hamid Karzai has condemned the bombings.
