Ever since the "Innocence of Muslims" YouTube video sparked a backlash in various countries across the world, including but not limited to Libya, Egypt, Australia, and Pakistan, the American administration has been attempting to toe the line between appeasement and showing firmness and strength to these countries. Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, along with various supporters, have called for the release of the blind sheikh.

The sheikh is currently serving a life sentence in North Carolina for inspiring the 1993 World Trade Center attack and issued a statement which was later used as justification for 9/11.

According to CBS, House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King has received information that talks are on the table.

"We have information from people in federal law enforcement who tell us that there have been discussion about if the blind sheikh were released, how it can be done," said King. 

A spokesperson for the National Security Council has refuted these claims, according to The Hill.

"There are no plans to release the blind sheikh or transfer him to Egypt," said Tommy Veitor. "Reports to the contrary are absolutely baseless."
