Reuters's bureau in Tehran was found guilty of "spreading lies" by state court Sunday, reports the Associated Press.

Reuters ran a headline that said a group of women trained in martial arts were assassins.

The headline was later corrected. Bureau Chief Parisa Hafezi, who was born in Iran, was detained, reports The Daily Beast.

Most of the staff moved to Dubai, but Hafezi was not allowed to leave the country.

Barb Burg, a Reuters spokesperson told the AP: "We understand that the jury has stated its view and we now await the court's ruling. We do not intend to comment further until a decision is issued."

The court sentence is expected within a week.

The court rarely deals with international news outlets. However, it often issues punishments including fines, closure and jail times against domestic media.
