A senior Israeli official said that the United States should not wait for Iran to decide on building a nuclear weapon before it considers military action against the Islamic Republic, Sunday, Reuters reported.

Earlier this week, Obama spoke by phone for an hour with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who argued that the United States' sanctions are not a strong enough deterant to prevent Iran from seeking nuclear weapons,  USA Today reported.

Netanyahu will appear on NBC and CNN to try and persuade the American public why a red line needs to be drawn with Iran.

In Netanyahu's interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” which will air Sunday night, Netanyahu described Iranian fanaticism as “the same fanaticism that you see storming your embassies today,” Haaretz reported. Referencing the anti-American attacks that occured in 20 U.S. embassies this past week, Netanyahu asked, "Do you want these fanatics to have nuclear weapons?”

The Obama administration's current position is that its sanctions on Iran are working, USA Today reported.

For its part, Iran said its nuclear program has peaceful purposes, USA Today noted.
