Michael Clarke Duncan, "Green Mile" Lead Actor, Dies At 54
In a statement released by his publicist, Joy Fehily, it was revealed that Duncan was in the hospital after suffering a myocardial infarction on July 13 from which he "never fully recovered."
The 6-foot-5-inch Duncan was best known for his Oscar-nominated performance as death row inmate, John Coffey. Duncan also starred in "Armageddon," "Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda." Duncan worked as a bodyguard for Will Smith, Notorious B.I.G and Jamie Foxx before turning to acting full time.
Prior to "The Green Mile," Duncan only had small parts as a bouncer or security guard in movies such as "A Night At The Roxbury," "Bulworth" and "The Players Club."
Omarosa Manigault, his fiancee, thanked fans for the outpour of prayers and support, but asked for privacy at the moment; "celebrations of his life will be announced at a later day."
