The 2012 Honda Civic Tour drove through Los Angeles this weekend, featuring local bands Linkin Park and Incubus, as well as the New Orleans band Mutemath, at the Home Depot Center on Saturday September 8th.

Normally filled with LA Galaxy soccer fans, the Home Depot Center was packed instead with rock fans whose thunderous stomping and chanting would having given the soccer crowd a run for their money.

Mutemath kicked off the show, warming up the crowd with a short set including songs from their 2011 album, "Odd Soul."

After a short introduction by KROQ’s Nicole Alvarez, Incubus arrived on stage, dramatically building their entrance with a “Lost” style countdown ticker.

Incubus played against a glorious orange sunset with hits from their impressive career, including “Nice to Know You,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Drive,” and “Pardon Me.”

Lead singer Brandon Boyd paused mid-set to light a candelabra and share a glass of red wine with guitarist Mike Einziger before leading into “Promises Promises.”

Around 9 p.m., Linkin Park hit the stage, playing to a full and very enthusiastic house.

They launched in with a high-energy line up of their hits, “Faint,” “Papercut,” and “Given Up,” and kept up the energy through the whole of their 22 song set list.

Linkin Park has several side projects, including their Power the World campaign which raises money for solar powered lights for areas of the world where electricity is limited or non-existent.  Lead singer Chester Bennington appeared on stage with a white guitar made from materials reclaimed from a landfill or, in his words, “made entirely from garbage,” and encouraged the audience to check out greenguitarproject.com for more information.

Their set included several songs from their newest album, “Living Things,” released in June of this year. They played “Lost In the Echo,” which recently debuted an interactive “music video” at lostintheecho.com on August 29th.

Their current radio single, “Burn it Down,” hit the dramatic high note of the show, with fireworks and geysers of flame erupting from stage and setting the fans into a frenzy.

For the concert finale, Linkin Park teamed up with Einziger from Incubus for a “Bleed It Out,” which transitioned into a Beastie Boys tribute of the song “Sabotage” in memory of lead singer Adam “MCA” Yauch who passed away in May of this year.

The Honda Civic tour continues with more Linkin Park and Incubus in Chula Vista, CA on September 10th, at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater. For more information and tickets, visit lptix.com.
