If any of you have had the opportunity to spot Spencer and Heidi Pratt around the University of Southern California campus then consider yourself lucky to be in the presence of reality royalty. The couple, known by fans as “Speidi,” has swapped tabloid appearances for the collegiate life as Spencer works towards his political science degree at USC.

Speidi’s rise to fame came on the MTV series "The Hills." Their tumultuous relationship created reality gold and made Spencer the resident villain on the show while wife Heidi spiraled out of control in a plastic surgery craze.

Between Spencer’s spiritual obsession with crystals and Heidi’s 10 plastic surgeries in one day, the couple quickly became Hollywood’s definition of “hot mess.”

Rumors have been circulating that the couple is now broke after The Daily Beast reported that they’ve moved into Spencer’s parents’ beach house. Their disastrous 15 minutes of fame may have drained their funds, but both Heidi and Spencer told Us Weekly magazine that they’re simply downsizing and turning away from their fame-driven ways.

"I'm turning down paid appearances. We don't have celebrity-sized money anymore, but we're fine," he said. "I'm happy to be around normal people these days!"

Could it be that they’ve finally had some sense knocked into them? Heidi has admitted how much she regrets the marathon of plastic surgeries that rendered her almost unrecognizable.

“Obviously I wish I didn’t do it,” Heidi said to The Daily Beast. “I would go back and not have any surgery. It doesn’t help. I got too caught up in Hollywood, being so into myself and my image. I don’t regret anything, but if I could go back, I wouldn’t do it.”

Broke and living on the parents’ dime, at least they have the semblance of their sanity back. However, can Speidi ever really abandon their reality TV stigma? It’s hard to fathom Spencer trying to get a job in politics after he graduates or Heidi being hired as whatever it was she was at Bolthouse Productions while she was on The Hills.

The tough question that needs answering is, what do they even do? Actor on The Hills doesn’t exactly stand out on a resume. As much as the world thanks them for giving up on their famous-for-nothing ploy, the future looks grim for the couple that was born and raised on TV.

What lesson can we learn from Speidi? When the limelight fades, all you’re left with are massive breasts and a lot of regrets.
