Ken Price Sculpture: A Retrospective | Sept. 16-Jan. 6 | Various Times | LACMA

L.A. artist, sculptor, and innovator Ken Price's retrospective at LACMA charts his decade-spanning career that has gained quite the cult following starting back in the 1960s. His work has not been extensively exhibited until lately (and then usually in group shows), so this solo show, designed by Price's friend and architect Frank Gehry, is a monumental moment for Price. His vibrant colors and powerful molten and graphic forms stretch the classical definition of sculpture. You just might find your next conversation starter. (LACMA)

Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival | Sept. 14-16 | Various Times | Ports O'Call Village

Escape the L.A. heat with a trip over to the port of Los Angeles where you can treat yourself to a three pound lobster. If three pounds of lobster is a little too much for you, the festival offers discounted Maine lobster meals of all sizes. There is so much lobster at this festival that the event broke the Guiness Wolrd Record for most seafood served at an outdoor event in 2009. Of course gorging on seafood isn't the only thing to do at this festival. You will also be treated to great street performers, dancing, a pirate camp, tall ships, shopping and musical performances. (Lobster Fest)

Naomi Wolf at Vroman's | Sept. 17 | 7:00 p.m. | Vroman's

Author Naomi Wolf will appear at Vroman's to discuss her controversial new book "Vagina: A New Biography." The book is about how the vagina influences the female brain and a woman's creativity. Since the book's release, Wolf has received scathing criticism on her theories about "that mystical female body part." Critics have gone as far as saying that "it is beyond parody, and it makes a parody of mainstream feminist debate." Wolf will address her critics and talk about the medical condition that inspired her latest work. (Naomi Wolf)
