With the backbone and support of the krump community, Storyboard Basquiat, an renowned street artist from Brooklyn, sprinkles in a bit of ballet, mixes it with a hint of hip-hop and stirs it together with a dose of contortion to create a visually astounding solution that speaks to 'what’s next.'  

I caught up with Storyboard to learn more about his creative process during a practice for “The Underground,” an exclusive performance directed by krump pioneers Miss Prissy and Lil‘ C and produced by M.A. Specialized Journalism alumna, Jessica Koslow (’12). 

Showcased on Sept. 6, the “The Underground,” show was filled to capacity at USC’s Bovard auditorium. Storyboard's solo performance thrilled attendees.   

The organizer’s mission is to spark an "Underground" national tour, marketing krump as a recognizable art form while showcasing their crew of multi-talented street dance artists.
