Jael Strauss, the quirky yet oddly endearing contestant on the eighth cycle of “America’s Next Top Model,” is now facing a meth addiction. TV self-help host Dr. Phil McGraw has been named the man for the job to give her a reality check. The former model’s family recently enlisted the help of McGraw to provide an on-air intervention.

The episode, which aired on September 13th, showed Strauss’ once delicate features now marred by the remnants of the drug and viewers’ shocked expressions at Strauss’s startling physical transformation, After much yelling, a flood of tears, and a flee out of the studio, it was revealed that the 28-year-old “ANTM” alum is now working as a stripper and as McGraw describes her, “a full-blown” meth addict.

CariDee English, the victor of the eighth season, used Gawker to disparage the credibility of “America’s Next Top Model”, as well as lend her support to Jael.

“Poor girl. Having problems and then getting a hint of fame only makes an addiction rise. They should have evaluated her a lot more before letting her on the show. All they saw was a personality good for television. Well, this hopefully will save at least her life and someone watching. Everything happens for a reason.”

Ultimately, the dramatic “Dr. Phil’s” segment accomplished its primary goal, as Strauss finally agreed to enter drug treatment.
