Truman's Grandson Visits Hiroshima For Victims’ Memorial Service

He visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on Saturday to present a wreath for the victims. His grandfather had authorized the use of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the blasts of which killed 140,000 and 70,000 people, respectively.
Daniel remarked that we must “honor the dead to not forget and to make sure that we never let this happen again.” He is committed to the idea of a nuclear-free world, and wants to understand the consequences of the atomic bombings firsthand.
Daniel is the first of Truman’s relatives to attend these ceremonies.
