Famed director Tony Scott jumped to his death from a San Pedro bridge Sunday night, the Los Angeles Times reported. Investigators are looking into whether health problems may have been a motive for the suicide on the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

Scott, 68, gained fame for directing hit movies including "Top Gun," "Enemy of the State" and "Beverly Hills Cop II."

Witnesses say they saw a man park his Prius on the bridge which connects San Pedro to Terminal Island before scaling a wall and jumping off the 185-foot bridge without hesitation around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Law enforcement officials said a suicide note was left in Scott's office but did not reveal its contents. A family spokesman said the family asked "that their privacy be respected at this time."
