A suicide attack in eastern Afghanistan killed three NATO service members on foot patrol, according to the Montreal Gazette.  A civilian was also reportedly killed.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing.

It took place in the Kunar province, a stronghold of the insurgency along the Pakistan border.

NATO confirmed the death of the three service members, but did not give any other details.

Fifteen NATO troops have been killed so far in August.
